How long does a domain transfer take?

Per ICANN regulations, once the gaining registrar has received transfer
verification from the registrant or administrative contact for the
domain(s), the losing registrar has five days to release the domain.

If
the domain is not released to by the current registrar within five (5)
days the registry will automatically complete the transfer.

IMPORTANT
NOTE: The five day pending period begins once the losing registrar has
been notified of the transfer request by the global registry. This
typically occurs within 12-24 hours after the transfer has been approved
by you or your client.

.uk domains will transfer as soon as the
Nominet (IPS) tag has been changed.

For more information
regarding the approval and rejection of domain transfers and registrar
responsibilities, please refer to ICANN's Transfer Policy at
http://www.icann.org/transfers/policy-12jul04.htm.
